About zakat
Zakat is the third pillar of Islam. It is the obligatory annual charity of 2.5% on qualifying wealth held above the nisab threshold for one complete lunar year. The nisab is approximately the value of 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver, whichever is lower.
