The Prophet Muhammad ﷺsaid: "Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred minus one. Whoever counts them (preserves them, understands them, and acts upon them) will enter Paradise." Ar-Rahman
The Most Compassionate
The One whose mercy encompasses all of creation — believer and disbeliever, animal and human alike. Ar-Rahman is the wide, universal mercy of this world that gives us breath, food, shelter, and time.
Ar-Raheem
The Most Merciful
The mercy specifically reserved for the believers in the next life. While Ar-Rahman covers all of creation in this world, Ar-Raheem is the intimate, eternal mercy waiting in Paradise.
Al-Malik
The King, The Sovereign
The absolute King of all creation. Every kingdom on earth borrows its authority from Him. He alone has dominion that needs no permission from anyone.
Al-Quddus
The Most Holy, The Pure
Free from every defect, imperfection, and partner. Holy beyond what the mind can imagine. The angels glorify Him with this name day and night without tiring.
As-Salam
The Source of Peace
The One free from any flaw, and the One who grants peace to His creation. The greeting of the believers — As-salamu alaykum — comes from this name.
Al-Mu'min
The Granter of Security
The One who keeps His promises and grants safety to those who turn to Him. He affirms truth and gives faith to the hearts of believers.
Al-Muhaymin
The Guardian
The Watcher who oversees all of creation. Nothing escapes His knowledge, His protection, or His ultimate authority.
Al-Aziz
The Almighty, The Most Honorable
The One who cannot be overcome. His honor is unmatched, His might unchallenged. Every honor in creation is a small reflection of His.
Al-Jabbar
The Compeller, The Restorer
The One who restores broken hearts, broken bones, and broken affairs. He compels what He wills with majesty no one can resist.
Al-Mutakabbir
The Supreme
The One supremely great, above every imperfection of creation. Pride for any creature is forbidden because true greatness belongs to Him alone.
Al-Khaliq
The Creator
The One who brings everything into existence from nothing. Every atom, every star, every soul comes from His command 'Be — and it is.'
Al-Bari'
The Originator
The One who shapes creation in perfect harmony, free from any defect or contradiction. He distinguishes each created thing in its unique form.
Al-Musawwir
The Fashioner
The One who gives every creation its specific shape, color, and feature. No two faces, no two leaves, no two snowflakes are the same — His artistry.
Al-Ghaffar
The Repeatedly Forgiving
The One who forgives sin after sin, generation after generation, return after return. His forgiveness never runs out for the one who keeps coming back.
Al-Qahhar
The Subduer
The One who has overpowered all of creation through life and death, through provision and need. No one escapes His ultimate authority.
Al-Wahhab
The Bestower
The One who gives without expecting return. He bestows freely on the deserving and the undeserving alike — His giving is from His own generosity.
Ar-Razzaq
The Provider
The One who provides for every breathing soul. From the unborn child to the worm in the soil to the angel in the heavens — all are fed by Him.
Al-Fattah
The Opener
The One who opens what was closed — doors of provision, of knowledge, of mercy, of victory. When all roads seem shut, He opens what no one else can.
Al-'Alim
The All-Knowing
The One whose knowledge has no limit. He knows the past, present, and future — every leaf that falls, every thought that crosses a heart.
Al-Qabid
The Withholder
The One who withholds provision, life, and ease according to His perfect wisdom. What He withholds is never lost — it is preserved for a higher purpose.
Al-Basit
The Extender
The One who extends provision, mercy, and life. He widens hearts in faith, opens hands in giving, and expands the hidden into the apparent.
Al-Khafid
The Abaser
The One who lowers the arrogant. Every tyrant, every proud heart, eventually falls at His command. He humbles whom He wills.
Ar-Rafi'
The Exalter
The One who raises the humble. The unknown believer becomes loved in heaven; the small servant becomes great in His sight.
Al-Mu'izz
The Honorer
The One who grants honor to whom He chooses. True honor cannot be earned by status or wealth alone — it is given by Him.
Al-Mudhill
The Humiliator
The One who humiliates those who turn away from Him. Pride against the Creator always ends in humiliation, sooner or later.
As-Sami'
The All-Hearing
The One who hears everything — the whisper in the dark, the prayer in the heart, the cry that no one else hears. Nothing escapes His hearing.
Al-Basir
The All-Seeing
The One who sees everything — the public deed, the private intention, the smallest movement of an ant on a black stone in a dark night.
Al-Hakam
The Judge
The Ultimate Judge whose decisions are perfect. Every dispute will be settled by Him on the Day of Judgment with absolute fairness.
Al-'Adl
The Just
The One whose every action is justice itself. He never wrongs anyone, even by the weight of an atom. His justice is perfect even when His wisdom is hidden.
Al-Latif
The Subtle, The Gentle
The One whose plans are gentle, intricate, and full of unseen mercy. He brings about His will in ways the human mind cannot fully grasp.
Al-Khabir
The All-Aware
The One aware of every detail of creation, of every secret thought, of every hidden motive. Nothing happens without His full awareness.
Al-Halim
The Forbearing
The One slow to anger. He gives time, He gives chances, He delays punishment — hoping His servant will return before it is too late.
Al-'Azim
The Magnificent
The One whose greatness fills the heavens and the earth. His magnificence is beyond measurement, beyond comprehension, beyond imagination.
Al-Ghafur
The Forgiving
The One whose forgiveness covers sin completely. He doesn't just overlook — He removes, conceals, and replaces sins with good deeds for the truly repentant.
Ash-Shakur
The Most Appreciative
The One who multiplies the reward of small deeds. A single sincere act done for Him is rewarded ten times, seven hundred times, or without limit.
Al-'Aliyy
The Most High
The One above all of creation in essence, in attribute, and in dominion. Nothing is above Him; everything is beneath His authority.
Al-Kabir
The Most Great
The One whose greatness has no comparison. Every great thing in creation reflects only a fragment of His true greatness.
Al-Hafiz
The Preserver
The One who preserves His creation from harm, who preserves His revelation from corruption, who preserves the deeds of His servants until the Day of Judgment.
Al-Muqit
The Sustainer
The One who provides nourishment to every soul, physical and spiritual. He sustains the body with food and the heart with faith.
Al-Hasib
The Reckoner
The One who takes account of every deed, large or small. He is sufficient as a witness — no other witness is needed when He is present.
Al-Jalil
The Majestic
The One of supreme majesty. His attributes are perfect; His essence is glorified above any likeness to creation.
Al-Karim
The Generous
The One whose generosity has no boundary. He gives before being asked, He forgives before being asked, He bestows without expecting return.
Ar-Raqib
The Watchful
The One always watching over His creation. He sees every action and intention. The believer worships as if they see Him, knowing He sees them.
Al-Mujib
The Responder
The One who answers prayers. He is closer to His servant than the jugular vein, hearing and responding even before words are formed.
Al-Wasi'
The All-Encompassing
The One whose mercy, knowledge, and provision encompass everything. There is no limit to what He can give, know, or forgive.
Al-Hakim
The Wise
The One whose every decision is rooted in perfect wisdom. What seems random or unfair to us has a wisdom we may only understand later — or only in the next life.
Al-Wadud
The Most Loving
The One who loves His believing servants and is loved by them. His love is active, expressive, and reaches the heart that turns to Him.
Al-Majid
The Most Glorious
The One of supreme glory and honor. His every attribute is at the highest degree of perfection.
Al-Ba'ith
The Resurrector
The One who will resurrect every soul on the Day of Judgment. He gave life the first time and will give it again — there is no second creation harder than the first.
Ash-Shahid
The Witness
The One who witnesses everything — every act, every word, every thought. Nothing happens without His direct witnessing.
Al-Haqq
The Truth
The One who is real in essence, real in attributes, real in actions. Everything other than Him is dependent on Him for its reality.
Al-Wakil
The Trustee
The One on whom His servants rely. To say 'Hasbunallah wa ni'mal-wakeel' — 'Allah is sufficient for us, and the best Trustee' — is a mountain of comfort.
Al-Qawiyy
The Strong
The One whose strength has no weakness. The mightiest of creation are weak before Him; the smallest of His creation are strong by His support.
Al-Matin
The Firm
The One whose strength is constant, steady, unshakable. His support never wavers for those who lean on Him.
Al-Waliyy
The Protecting Friend
The One who is the guardian of the believers. He takes them out of darkness into light, defends them, and never abandons them.
Al-Hamid
The Praiseworthy
The One worthy of all praise. Every praise spoken in any language by any tongue ultimately returns to Him.
Al-Muhsi
The Counter
The One who counts and records every detail of creation. Every grain of sand, every breath, every deed is precisely accounted for.
Al-Mubdi'
The Originator
The One who began creation from nothing. Before He created, there was nothing — He needed no model, no material, no helper.
Al-Mu'id
The Restorer
The One who will return creation back. Just as He began it, He will recreate it on the Day of Resurrection — every soul restored.
Al-Muhyi
The Giver of Life
The One who gives life to the lifeless — to the seed in the soil, to the embryo in the womb, to the dead body on the Day of Judgment.
Al-Mumit
The Bringer of Death
The One who takes life when its appointed time arrives. Death is not random or accidental — it is His decree, exact to the second.
Al-Hayy
The Ever-Living
The One whose life never began and will never end. He does not sleep, does not tire, does not die. All life depends on His.
Al-Qayyum
The Self-Sustaining
The One who sustains Himself and all of creation. Nothing exists without Him; He exists without need of anything.
Al-Wajid
The Finder
The One who finds whatever He wills, whenever He wills. He lacks nothing and is in need of no one.
Al-Majid
The Glorious
The One of perfect honor and exalted glory. His names and attributes are all of supreme nobility.
Al-Wahid
The One
The One in essence, with no partner, no equal, no rival. The first pillar of Islamic belief — there is no god but Allah.
Al-Ahad
The Unique
The One who is utterly unique. He is not divisible, not composed, not comparable to anything. Surah Al-Ikhlas is dedicated to this name.
As-Samad
The Eternal Refuge
The One to whom all of creation turns in need. He is sought after — He seeks no one. He has no needs — all needs are brought to Him.
Al-Qadir
The Capable
The One who has power over everything. Whatever He wills, He does — and whatever He doesn't will, doesn't happen.
Al-Muqtadir
The Powerful
The One whose power is absolute. Stronger than Al-Qadir in emphasis — there is no aspect of creation He cannot bring under His command.
Al-Muqaddim
The Expediter
The One who brings forward whom and what He wills. He raises the humble, advances the patient, and brings near those who turn to Him.
Al-Mu'akhkhir
The Delayer
The One who delays whom and what He wills. His delays are never neglect — they are wisdom we may not yet understand.
Al-Awwal
The First
The First — before whom there was nothing. He is uncreated; He has always been.
Al-Akhir
The Last
The Last — after whom there is nothing. When everything ends, He remains. When everything is forgotten, He is remembered.
Az-Zahir
The Manifest
The Manifest — apparent to anyone who reflects on creation, on the order of the universe, on the design of the body, on the rhythm of life.
Al-Batin
The Hidden
The Hidden — closer to us than our jugular vein, yet beyond what eyes can see. Known by His signs, not His essence.
Al-Wali
The Governor
The One who governs all affairs of creation. Every kingdom, every household, every cell is under His direct rule.
Al-Muta'ali
The Most Exalted
The One exalted far above any limitation, any imperfection, any comparison. Above what minds can imagine.
Al-Barr
The Source of All Goodness
The One from whom every good in creation originates. Every kindness, every blessing, every act of goodness is a reflection of His.
At-Tawwab
The Acceptor of Repentance
The One who turns toward His servants when they turn toward Him. He doesn't just accept tawbah — He loves it. He delights in the return of His servant.
Al-Muntaqim
The Avenger
The One who takes ultimate justice from oppressors. Every oppressor will face Him. No tear of the oppressed is forgotten.
Al-'Afuww
The Pardoner
The One who erases sins so completely it is as if they were never written. The dua taught for Laylatul Qadr revolves around this name.
Ar-Ra'uf
The Most Kind
The One whose kindness toward His creation is constant, gentle, and far beyond what any creation could deserve.
Malik-ul-Mulk
Owner of All Sovereignty
The Owner of all kingdoms, all dominions, all power. He gives kingdom to whom He wills and takes it from whom He wills.
Dhul-Jalali wal-Ikram
Lord of Majesty and Honor
The One who possesses both crushing majesty and overwhelming honor. He is to be feared and to be loved at the same time.
Al-Muqsit
The Equitable
The One who establishes justice perfectly. He is just to His friends and to His enemies, in this life and in the next.
Al-Jami'
The Gatherer
The One who will gather all of humanity on the Day of Judgment — every soul from every age, in one place, before Him.
Al-Ghaniyy
The Self-Sufficient
The One who needs nothing and no one. We need Him every second; He needs nothing from anyone, ever.
Al-Mughni
The Enricher
The One who enriches whom He wills. True wealth is what He places in the heart, not what is counted in the bank.
Al-Mani'
The Withholder
The One who withholds harm from those He protects, and withholds favor from whom He wills. His withholding is always wisdom.
Ad-Darr
The Distresser
The One who allows hardship to reach whom He wills, by His wisdom. No harm reaches anyone without His permission.
An-Nafi'
The Benefactor
The One who allows benefit to reach whom He wills. Every good thing comes from Him alone.
An-Nur
The Light
The Light of the heavens and the earth. He guides hearts, illuminates paths, and gives every kind of clarity. Surah An-Nur (24:35) describes this.
Al-Hadi
The Guide
The One who guides hearts to truth. No one can guide a heart but Him — not even the Prophet ﷺ guided his own uncle.
Al-Badi'
The Originator
The Originator of the heavens and the earth — creating without precedent, without model, without comparison.
Al-Baqi

The One who remains when all else fades. Mountains will crumble, stars will burn out, time itself will end — He remains.
Al-Warith

The One to whom everything returns. Wealth, kingdoms, lives — all eventually return to Him alone.
