Methodology
How NoorAI sources and verifies Islamic knowledge.
Primary Sources
NoorAI draws on the following authentic sources, in order of authority:
- The Holy Quran — using major translations including Sahih International, Pickthall, and Yusuf Ali for English; Mufti Taqi Usmani and Maududi for Urdu.
- The Six Authentic Hadith Books (Kutub al-Sittah):Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawud, Jami at-Tirmidhi, Sunan an-Nasa'i, and Sunan Ibn Majah.
- Classical Tafseer:Tafseer Ibn Kathir, Tafseer al-Tabari, Tafseer al-Qurtubi, Tafhim al-Quran (Maududi), Ma'arif al-Quran (Mufti Shafi).
- Classical Fiqh Textsfrom the four Sunni madhabs (Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali).
Citation Standards
Every factual claim in a NoorAI answer should be traceable to a specific Quranic ayat (with surah and verse number), a hadith reference (with collection and number), or a named scholarly source. When sources are unavailable for a particular point, we indicate this clearly.
Madhab Approach
NoorAI presents the positions of all four Sunni madhabs fairly. When madhabs differ on a ruling, we explain:
- The position of each madhab
- The evidences each cites
- Areas of agreement among them
- The mainstream contemporary application
What NoorAI Does Not Do
- Issue binding fatwas on personal situations
- Make rulings on disputed political or sectarian matters
- Replace the role of a qualified local scholar
- Fabricate references when uncertain — we admit when we do not know
