Prophet of Allah
Yusuf (AS)
يوسف
Known in other traditions as: Joseph
Sent to: Egypt and his family
Son of Yaqub. Thrown into a well by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, imprisoned, and rose to become the minister of Egypt.
Story
His story occupies the entirety of Surah Yusuf — described in the Quran as 'the most beautiful of stories.' From a vision in childhood to betrayal by his brothers, slavery, false accusation by his master's wife, prison, and finally being raised to administer the food supply of Egypt during a famine. Reunited with his family with patience, forgiveness, and gratitude — never blaming, never bitter.
